Curves Gym - Energy Performance Certificate
Callidus Design Limited was appointed by Richmack Construction to provide an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) for a proposed new Ladies Gym facility in Broxburn, near Edinburgh.
Production of an EPC requires that a detailed survey is carried out of the building fabric and the mechanical and electrical service installations by a suitably qualified Low Carbon Energy Assessor (LCEA). Using our in-house software programme, DesignBuilder, the survey information is then used to create a 3D model of the building and all services data is subsequently incorporated. The software programme is then able to determine the energy performance of the building and then compare the result against national standards. The EPC displays the result as an asset rating. Asset Ratings range from G (very poor energy efficiency) to A+ (better than carbon-neutral).
In addition to the EPC and standardised Recommendations which are provided by the software, Callidus Design provided a detailed, yet easy to understand report. The report included recommendations specifically from the energy assessor to identify areas where the building operator/owner could realistically make future improvements to reduce energy usage. The report highlighted the potential improvement to the asset rating which could be achieved if the recommendations were to be implemented.
